Fully self-driving vehicles stayed far below 5% of trips or vehicles by 2024 (placed year 2019 + 5). Waymo, the leader, gave about 50,000 paid rides per week in May 2024 and 100,000 in Sept 2024, while Uber completed more than 1m trips per hour. Even at 450,000 weekly rides in Dec 2025, robotaxis were well under 1% of US ride-hailing.
