Students of all ages typically have a computer of their own, which is a thin tablet-like device weighing under a pound with a very high-resolution display suitable for reading.
Grader A: miss
In 2009 US schools had 5.3 students per classroom computer, and only 4% of schools gave handheld devices to students. No thin tablet under one pound with a high-resolution screen existed; the first iPad (April 2010) weighed 1.5 lb. One-to-one student devices spread later and mostly as laptops and Chromebooks, not sub-pound tablets.
Test: At least 20% of students owning a sub-one-pound high-resolution tablet: effectively 0% in 2009; under 5% by 2014 for devices matching the specification.
Grader B: partial
In 2009 US schools had 3.1 students per computer and students did not typically own a sub-pound tablet. The iPad (2010) weighed 1.5 lb; sub-pound tablets (iPad mini 2012) and wider teen tablet ownership came in 2012-2014.
Test: Household test: student-owned tablets ~0% 2009; sub-pound tablets and ~20%+ teen tablet ownership only in 2012-2014.
