Futures Intelligence: Strategic Foresight Collaboration with UNDP Ukraine
This project, created in partnership with the United Nations Development Program Ukraine, developed a public foresight radar to track signals of change affecting the country. The radar integrates custom metrics for tracking and visualizing inputs from various experts, facilitating data navigation for multiple stakeholders.
Curated by the 'Futures Intelligence Team,' composed of 23 analysts convened by the Interfactional Union of MPs for 'Strategic Foresight of Ukraine,' the project was supported by the methodological expertise of the Joint Research Center of the European Commission. The team's horizon scanning efforts were enhanced by introductory briefings and a masterclass from the European Commission, equipping them with skills for strategic foresight. The radar combines these insights with advanced visualization features, making it a comprehensive tool for futures intelligence in Ukraine.

This radar leverages unique custom metrics, visualized through features like distance from the center, radius, and bar size. These metrics, crowdsourced during workshops, provide a dynamic view of the data: the distance indicates context divergence, the radius reflects the potential effect, and the bar size measures the likelihood or plausibility of each signal. Clusters are organized by key categories, including Social, Technological, Economic, Environmental, Political & Legal, Ethical, and Demographic spheres. Each signal is tagged across dimensions like scan hit, timeframe, newness, and novelty.
To reach both local and international audiences, the radar is published in English and Ukrainian, ensuring accessibility and relevance to a broader range of stakeholders.
Signals Work Sessions
The radar was built using a set of pre-existing signals, collaboratively sourced through workshops and processes led by the client. We organized and structured this data to fit seamlessly within the radar's interface, ensuring it was optimized for ease of use and effective data presentation.
