The category is around TRL 3–4: hardware miniaturization, motion-robust signal processing, and ethical review boards still gate mass adoption. Regulators and neuro-rights groups demand explicit consent and on-device processing so emotion or health data never leaves the player’s control. As standard SDKs emerge inside Unity/Unreal and major consoles certify neural peripherals, expect BCIs to become an optional but powerful input layer for everything from cozy games to competitive VR arenas.
