Eve, spun out from Embraer, completed the maiden flight of its full-scale electric vertical take-off and landing prototype in December 2025 at Gavião Peixoto, Brazil. The test validated aircraft architecture, fly-by-wire controls, and integrated propulsion.
The company is publicly traded (NYSE: EVEX) and has accumulated over 2,900 letters of intent from airlines and operators including United Airlines. Hundreds of flights are planned in 2026 to generate certification data. Eve is also developing the urban air traffic management software — not just the aircraft but the entire ecosystem.
Brazil's advantage: Embraer's 50 years of aerospace engineering, testing, and certification experience. While EHang (China) moved faster on certification and Joby (US) has more funding, Eve brings deep aircraft manufacturing DNA. São Paulo, with its chronic traffic congestion and existing helipad infrastructure, is a natural first market.
