Custom Superyacht Construction

Turkey has risen to become the world's second-largest superyacht-building nation, surpassing the Netherlands in 2024 and trailing only Italy. With 132+ superyachts in build according to BOAT International's Global Order Book, Turkey's Antalya, Istanbul, and Bodrum shipyards produce vessels ranging from 24-meter motor yachts to 80-meter+ custom superyachts. Total ship and yacht exports reached $1.912 billion in 2024, with superyachts commanding the highest per-unit value.

Turkish superyacht construction combines Italian-level craftsmanship with significantly lower labor and overhead costs, attracting a growing share of the global custom yacht market. Yards like Bilgin Yachts, Alia Yachts, and Sirena Marine have won international design awards and built vessels for ultra-high-net-worth clients worldwide. The sector requires mastery of advanced composites, naval architecture, marine electrical systems, propulsion integration, and luxury interior fit-out — a complex technology stack that creates high-value manufacturing employment.

The green transformation now driving the industry — hybrid propulsion, electric systems, sustainable materials — creates additional technology development opportunities. Turkish yards are investing in hybrid and hydrogen-ready vessel designs, positioning themselves for the next generation of environmentally conscious superyachts. The sector's success also spills over into defense naval construction, as shipyard capabilities in hull design, systems integration, and marine engineering serve both luxury and military markets.
