Magnetorheological Fluid

Fluids that change viscosity under magnetic fields for adaptive damping and control systems
Back to ForgeView interactive version

Magnetorheological (MR) fluids change viscosity in response to magnetic fields, enabling controllable damping. Limited commercialization in MR dampers for vehicles and structures; research continues into seismic damping for earthquake resistance. Applications include suspension systems, brakes, and adaptive structures.
