ECOFAST™ Pure Sustainable Textile Treatment

Pretreatment that modifies cotton fibers to absorb dyes more efficiently with less water and energy
Back to FabricView interactive version

ECOFAST™ Pure is a pretreatment technology that chemically modifies cotton fiber surfaces to increase their affinity for reactive dyes. By creating more binding sites for dye molecules, the treatment allows dyes to attach more efficiently to fibers, requiring less dye, less water for rinsing, and lower temperatures during the dyeing process.

This innovation addresses the resource-intensive nature of cotton dyeing, which traditionally requires large volumes of water, excess dye that becomes wastewater, and high energy consumption for heating dye baths. ECOFAST™ Pure can reduce water usage by up to 50%, dye consumption by 30-40%, and energy requirements by 25% compared to conventional cotton dyeing, while also improving color fastness and reducing the need for salt in the dyeing process. The technology is commercially available from Huntsman Textile Effects and is being adopted by major brands seeking to reduce their environmental impact.

The technology is becoming increasingly important as water scarcity intensifies and regulations on textile wastewater discharge tighten globally. As brands face pressure to reduce their water footprint and chemical usage, pretreatment technologies like ECOFAST™ Pure offer a practical pathway to more sustainable dyeing without requiring complete process overhauls, making it an accessible solution for existing manufacturing facilities.
