The Altuğ 8x8 is Turkey's next-generation armored combat vehicle, designed to replace aging M113s and FNSS ACV-15s in the Turkish Army's mechanized and infantry formations. Mass production began alongside the Altay MBT at a rate of 10 vehicles per month, establishing a complete indigenous ground combat vehicle production line at BMC's Ankara facility. The vehicle features a modular architecture supporting multiple mission variants.

The Altuğ joins a competitive Turkish armored vehicle manufacturing sector that already exports the FNSS PARS, Otokar ARMA, and BMC Kirpi vehicles to numerous countries. Turkey has become one of the world's largest armored vehicle exporters, with vehicles serving in dozens of armies across the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia. The Altuğ represents the latest generation in this product line, incorporating lessons from Turkey's extensive operational experience.

The parallel production of Altay tanks and Altuğ IFVs creates a combined arms family that can be offered as an integrated package to export customers — a tank-IFV team supported by indigenous munitions, sensors, and communications systems. This approach mirrors the ecosystem export model that has been so successful in Turkey's drone and naval sectors.
