Trophy (ASPRO-A) is an active protection system developed by Rafael that detects and neutralizes incoming anti-tank guided missiles and RPGs before they reach armored vehicles. The system uses flat-panel radar to track incoming threats and fires a focused blast of metal pellets to destroy projectiles at a safe distance. It is the world's first combat-proven APS, having been operational on Israeli Merkava tanks since 2011.

Trophy has redefined armored warfare by dramatically improving tank survivability against anti-tank guided missiles — the weapon class that had increasingly tilted the cost equation against heavy armor. In Gaza operations, Trophy achieved an unprecedented 100% success rate against various ATGM threats, fundamentally challenging the narrative that tanks are obsolete in modern warfare.

The U.S. Army adopted Trophy for its M1 Abrams main battle tanks, marking a historic acknowledgment that American vehicle protection technology had been surpassed by an Israeli system. Trophy is now being adapted to counter drone threats, extending its relevance into the emerging domain of unmanned aerial systems.
